Whitehawk VS
Worthing
Well Winter
has finally set in and last
Saturday, for the first time
this season, we have had a game
postponed. With the game against
Croydon falling foul to their
financial troubles today is our
first game for three weeks. In
our last game against a stubborn
Burgess Hill I thought over the
90 minutes we gave a good
professional performance and
even though we went down to 10
men at 0-0 we deservedly went on
to win 2-0. Today's game will be
tough as we know from how well
Worthing played back in Woodside
Road last year and we know they
have some good players, as we
played with some of them last
year, but we also know that we
are capable of beating any team
in this league if we work hard
enough during the game. Let's
hope the work ethic that's got
us to second place continues
today and we get the right
result. Enjoy the game.
Player update - injuries
(02/02/12)
Mark Knee -
Thankfully fully recovered from
his horrific eye injury
sustained away at Three Bridges,
Mark played in the midweek
friendly (Tuesday) at East
Grinstead and came trough that
all ok... Playing 45 minutes
Andy Pearson will
go and play at Shoreham FC for a
'few' games as he steps up his
recovery from ankle ligament
damage. Andy also played in the
East Grinstead friendly for 45
minutes, playing the second half
and looking good.
Although a long way off from
playing, Will Berry
has had his Cruciate op and is
on that slow road to recovery
but we are talking to him and
assisting him all the way to his
recovery...
Sami El Abd is
fully recovered, just in need of
a little match fitness and
sharpness but he is ok from his
hamstring strain.
Jerahl Hughes is
still recovering from a groin
strain and maybe in contention
for 2/3 weeks time.
Tommy Fraser is
back in training and just needs
to sharpen up but he is not long
away at all from getting back
into the squad.
Everyone else is good, fit and
raring to go. Ben Godfrey
starts a three match ban from
this Saturday at Crawley Down.
He will be missed but he is
determined to keep fit and sharp
ready for when that ends.
Tuesdays friendly at Three
Bridges gave us a chance to see
the fringe players in action as
well as give a debut (albeit) in
a friendly to Charlie
Walker - dual signed
from Lancing and John
Lansdale recently signed
from Worthing.
Both Charlie and John played 45
minutes, Charlie looked sharp
and scored and both players
enjoyed it. A big thank you to
East Grinstead for allowing us
to play them and it is much
appreciated. All the lads look
sharp, bright and are all
excited about the idea of the
final run in to the season being
a close call

VS Bognor
A warm
welcome to everyone from Bognor.
We hope you have a good
afternoon with us here at the
enclosed ground.
I Hope you all had a good
Christmas and New Year and let's
hope 2012 is a successful year,
all round and both on and off
the pitch!
Today has all the ingredients to
be an important and enjoyable
match. Big games bring out the
best in everyone and I feel
today will do that. Big games
show us all just how much we can
and should enjoy playing
football.
We've all worked really hard on
the training ground these last
10/12 days and I hope that hard
work will pay dividends starting
today and over the coming weeks
and months ahead.
I am pleased to report that the
last few remaining niggles and
injuries are starting to resolve
themselves and as we move into
2012 I hope to be able to be in
a position to select the
strongest team from our squad
for every match.
I have always played football
with pride and passion and
played the game hard and fair...
And as the saying goes; " if you
train hard, you'll be be hard to
beat... " that's a simple but
true saying where we are
concerned. The lads have worked
hard for me and we hope 2012
will make us hard to beat.
I have a lot of belief in the
players and I hope all of the
supporters in and outside the
club share that belief... We
know that if we concentrate on
our game and focus on ourselves
we will deliver.
Please continue to support the
lads and help us all onto bigger
and better things.
Thank you all and Up the Hawks!

A warm
welcome to everyone from
Folkestone Invicta. We hope you
enjoy your stay with us and have
a safe journey home.
Firstly, i would like to
congratulate Keith on his new
successful programme notes and
column, long may that
continue...
I would like to welcome Tommy
Fraser on board, it's a great
signing for both us and Tommy.
Excellent ambition from the
club, gives Tommy game time
whilst he weighs up his options
and he will will enjoy the
chance to play with his brother
James. Can I also welcome back
Sam Fisk. Great to have him back
on board and with his
international clearance through,
he will be pushing to get into
our squad sooner rather than
later.
Last week we had a great game at
home v Corinthian Casuals which
was pleasing to see. We showed a
lot of character with a good
solid team performance. That
puts us in good stead for the
game today against a team
challenging to be up there.
It isn't hard
to be good from time to time in
sports.
What's tough is being good every
day.

VS Folkestone Invicta
After a great
result and performance last week
against Corinthian Casuals we
face what should be a tougher
task against Folkestone this
Saturday. In probably what was
our most disappointing result of
the season so far, with both Sam
Gargan and myself getting sent
off and losing the game, we hope
to make amends and reverse the
result we got down in Kent. Some
of the ref’s decisions were very
poor that night and combined
with a good Folkestone
performance will hopefully see
us chomping at the bit get three
points. It’s never good to get
nothing from the opposition over
both games of the season. If we
play as we did last Saturday
there is no reason why we can’t
beat any team in this league.
With Joe Gatting going off on
cricket duty, he was devastated
to be going to a warm country to
mess about with a bat and ball
and drink nice local lager, we
welcomed Tommy Fraser to the
squad and we’ll all agree he
looked very good in his first
game.
After today’s game we head down
to Brighton for our Christmas
night out so the next programme
notes should make interesting
reading!. A good win will help
us enjoy the night that bit more
and hopefully the young lads
will be able to keep up with the
likes of Mark Pullan, Stuart
Tuck, Mark Knee and myself.
Hope you all
enjoy the match.

Whitehawk VS Corinthian Casuals
Hello
everyone and a warm Welcome to
our guests from Corinthian
Casuals.
We hope you have a good
afternoon with us and have a
safe journey back.
They say a week is a long time
in politics... Well in football
it feels even longer, especially
these last 7 days. With
expectation levels around us
being so high and with me
setting my standards high, a
draw last week, away from home
feels very much like two points
dropped rather than a point
gained...
In many ways it is a good sign
to be disappointed that we
didn't win the match and believe
me, we had enough chances to
win. However in real terms a
point away from home is 'ok'
when you look at the form of
Chipstead.
After this draw it felt there
was a sense of disappointment
around the whole place but We
ALL need to be positive in and
around the club. Can we all
continue to be strong and
inspire us all to achieve. With
this i feel we will get stronger
as the season progresses.
I am continuing to work on and
off the pitch to ensure the
squad reach perfection sooner
rather than later. This will
make sure we keep on track to
reach our aims, targets and
objectives... I firmly believe
that positive thinking will let
you do everything better than
negative thinking will..
And Remember;
.... "ITS HARD TO FAIL, BUT IT
IS WORSE NEVER TO HAVE TRIED TO
SUCCEED..."
Keep the faith, Up the Hawks

VS Corinthian Casuals
After last
weeks Tuesday fixture against
Eastbourne United we find
ourselves in the quarter final
of the Sussex Senior Cup. A good
6-1 win saw off Eastbourne and
keeps our hopes alive of a date
at the AMEX next year.
Unfortunately we weren’t able to
follow that up with a win
against Chipstead on Saturday.
Without really playing that well
we dominated Chipstead in the
first half and should have been
ahead at the break but had to
settle for a 0-0 draw. And not
getting ourselves ahead cost us
in the second half with
Chipstead going ahead with what
I think was their first effort
on our goal. Josh Jones managed
to get us an equaliser and from
then on I thought we were going
to go and win the game but it
wasn’t to be and a 1-1 draw was
the final result.
After the disappointment of last
Saturday we now look forward to
two home games in a row,
starting today with Corinthian
Casuals, and hopefully 6 points
because as we all know it’s
vital to win all our home games
if we are to keep challenging
for the top spot next May. Hope
you all enjoy today’s match

Whitehawk VS Eastbourne United
A warm welcome this evening to
Eastbourne United. We hope you
all have a good evening with us
and a safe journey back home.
This is a great competition and
one that we want to do really
well in so we are approaching
tonight's match in our usual
professional manner.
As the saying goes; "football is
a funny old game..." and these
last few weeks have highlighted
that... In all we have had a
great set of results, over the
last 11 matches we've won 9,
drawn 1 & lost 1. That's good
but in reality it is only the
tip of the iceberg. We are
barely out of first gear yet we
find ourselves up in the mix at
the top of the table. I know
there is more to come from us
all and the quicker we settle
into that groove the happier I
will be!
The Sussex Senior Cup match
tonight is a welcome relief from
a tough league campaign so we've
spoken to the lads to play their
football and continue to work
hard. Winning is a habit and a
nice habit to get into so this
game is no different.
“If you can't fly then run,
if you can't run then walk, if
you can't walk then crawl, but
whatever you do you have to keep
moving forward.”
Up the Hawks, onwards and
upwards.

Armo's comments Worthing
VS Whitehawk
Good evening
and welcome to tonight's Sussex
Senior Cup game against
Eastbourne Town. Well we've
another Saturday, Tuesday week
since our last home game against
Crawley Down, but 10 days which
has been pretty productive for
us in terms of getting points on
the board. Since the win against
Crawley Down we've picked
another 4 points with the 1-0
win away to Walton and Hersham
obviously being the highlight.
Due to suspension I didn't get
to see the game but from all
accounts we delivered an
excellent away performance, 1-0
away wins, especially mid week,
are the type of results that add
so much to keeping the push
going for success come the end
of the season. Of course we
would have liked to have gotten
a result on Saturday but a 1-1
draw, with a Worthing side who
are having a good season, is in
my mind a well earned point. We
probably weren't at our best and
scoring so late in the game is
on reflection a good measure of
our spirit and determination not
to be beat.
The management reminded us of an
excellent stat before the
Worthing game, in the last 10
games we've won nine and lost
one, that's great form and we
need to have the belief that we
can keep that going all the way
to May because we are good
enough to win the league this
year. Enjoy tonights match.

Whitehawk VS Crawley Down
A warm welcome to everyone at
Crawley Down. We hope you enjoy
your day and it is great to be
playing our second Sussex derby
this week...
Injury update... Mostly Good
news: starting with Stuart Tuck,
great to have him on the bench
Tuesday and we are all sure that
it won't be long before he gets
back into full contention. Karly
Akhurst is winning his battle
with his knee so that will be
vital for us going into the
winter programme.
Paul Armstrong looks like he's
picked up a thigh injury. The
fact he starts his three match
ban is the only relief but it
gives us time to assess how he
is...
Andy Pearson looks like his
ankle will be more long term so
that's not good news.
In general however the lads are
doing ok and it is essential we
all keep them fit and raring to
go in the coming weeks & months.
We are in a good place in
general at the moment and taking
one game at a time we feel we
can chip away at the teams
around us. I am a positive man
and I am looking to all the
players to stay focussed on the
job in hand, one game at a time.
I have been pleased with all the
players reaction in recent weeks
and in recent matches and it is
the positive belief by us ALL
that will see us progress.
Winning games can take a moment
of excellence from one player in
one position... BUT here at
Whitehawk I feel we have the
ability to win games with
players in every position.
...Our success will come from
small efforts being repeated
week in and week out..."

Whitehawk VS Hythe Town
A warm welcome to the Enclosed
Ground to everyone from Hythe
Town. A new fixture for us both
at this level which is always a
good thing to see. We hope you
enjoy your stay and have a safe
trip back.
Well, this week has yet again
been filled with incidents, both
good and bad! Incidents and
events from our players and
officials have certainly tested
our nerve. I am pleased to say
that we have had two wins from
two since my last set of
programme notes and I do still
feel we have not yet hit our
best form but are coming through
with positive results. As good
as this is it is not ideal as we
have enough quality in the squad
to make games safer than we are
at present. We have to earn the
right to win our games and play
our football... With a further
note of caution that we cannot
and should not be letting in 2
and 3 goals every game and rely
upon scoring more in order to
see us through to winning
ways... Clean sheets and a
strong team work ethic are
required week in week out to
reach our goals.
Can I take this opportunity to
thank Sammy Donnelly and Simon
Lockwood for helping us out on
Tuesday for the game Vs
Sittingbourne. It was good of
them both to help us out and it
meant we did not have to rely
upon Ross 'safe' Standen to
deputise for Chris Winterton!
On more serious matters, Andy
Pearson and Karly Akehurst had
their scans this week and at the
time of writing these notes we
do not know the results but it
is all looking positive and we
hope to see them back in
contention very soon. Can I
thank the club for their support
and assistance with these long
term injury issues. On the
subject of thank you's, The
pitch is looking great and
considering we train and play on
the pitch as well as the under
18 matches on it, Keith is doing
an excellent job it, Thanks
Keith from myself and all the
lads.
Todays match V Hythe is the
second game in a run of 4 at
home and we are proving that the
Enclosed Ground is a fortress or
us, so lets continue that vein
of form... Lastly remember
Success is a journey not a
destination...
Up the Hawks!

VS Hythe Town
This week saw
two very eventful games with
lots of goals in both matches in
which, luckily for us, we
managed to outscore our
opponents on both occasions. On
Tuesday night we hosted
Sittingbourne and three
penalties, one for us (which I
missed with the worst penalty
ever!) and two for them which
they converted, mixed together
with some bad mistakes and some
excellent play from us finally
ended with a 4-3 win for us and
well earned three points. I
thought our attacking players
were fantastic on Tuesday and if
our more defensive players can
be more solid and allow the
likes of Josh Jones and Jerhyll
Huges to play with the
confidence they showed during
the game I can’t see us losing
too many more games throughout
the rest of the season. Apart
from the goals we conceded we
seemed to enjoy ourselves
against Sittingbourne and
hopefully it will be another
enjoyable game today as we
welcome Hythe Town to The
Enclosed Ground. Hope you enjoy
the match

VS Hailsham
Tonight we
welcome Hailsham for our first
taste of the Sussex Senior Cup
this year. With the final being
played at the fantastic new AMEX
stadium there is some added
incentive to go as far as we can
in the competition. Of course
our main priority is the league
and that will remain our focus
throughout the season. Having
said that lets hope we managed
to get a result in the FA Trophy
against Billericay on Saturday
as it’s always a confidence
booster to beat higher league
opponents in big cup
competitions.
On the training pitch things
have been pretty quiet with
everyone training well and no
real silly moments to mention,
this is in part because big
Sammi EA has been off for a
while so I’m sure the standard
of training will drop a little,
having said that he did have a
good night last Thursday and
only gave the ball away once!.
And finally congrats to Sam
Gargan whose girlfriend had a
baby daughter last week.
Enjoy the game

VS Met Police
After gaining
promotion last year from our
league we welcomed back Met
police last Tuesday for a tie in
the Ryman league cup. Both sides
used the game to get some of
their younger players a bit of
first team experience and it was
the higher league team which
eventually ran out winners.
Starting in the centre of
midfield for The Hawks was
gaffer Darren Freeman and after
a slightly off target early
attempt on goal settled into the
middle of the park well along
side Karly Akehurst. There
wasn’t much to choose between
the sides in the early stages of
the first half but it would be
fair to say The Hawks kept the
Met pinned back but without
really creating too many
chances. Unfortunately for young
keeper Matt Cruttwell, who had
looked very composed until this
point, spilled the ball allowing
Mets Matthew Cefai to tap home
the easiest of finishes. The
goal helped Met to push up the
park and limited Hawks chances
up until the half time break.
The second half saw Hawks see a
lot of the ball in defensive
areas with the returning Sammi
El Abd and youngster Fionn Bowra
getting lots of touches on the
ball. The Met were good on the
counter attack though and some
good play down the right hand
side saw the ball eventually
fall to Wilson-Dennis whose
curling right foot shot was
saved superbly by the young
Hawks Keeper. More bad fortune
was to follow though for
Cruttwell and a mix up between
him and Bowra let Met striker
Staforde Palmer in for another
easy goal and put an end to any
chance of a Hawks comeback. A
good experience for the younger
players involved but
unfortunately for The Hawks
there will be no Alan Boon
Trophy victory this year

(Posted )
A warm
welcome to Maldon & Tiptree
today for the FA cup 2nd
qualifying round. We hope
everyone linked to Maldon has an
enjoyable day at The Enclosed
Ground.
Maldon will prove to be a tough
game today and Ross and I went
to watch them beat Cambridge
City in the last round in what
was a hard and competitively
fought match. We need to
concentrate and apply ourselves
today and I'm sure we will.
Welcome to James Fraser who we
have just signed from Bognor, a
competitive midfielder who has
an eye for goal. Proven midweek
in our 3-0 win away vs
Whyteleafe where James bagged
two goals. The team performed
excellently and what pleased me
more than anything was that we
kept a clean sheet. That's a
good habit to get into.
A massive thank you to those
fans who travelled to Whyteleafe.
They made themselves heard and
it was really appreciated.
We now have a strong squad and
with everyone of them capable of
being in my starting11... So we
will need every player to
continue to work hard in
training and collectively be a
united squad. We have a great
spirit amongst the team.

Good
afternoon and welcome to the
enclosed ground for the arrival
of the the in form team Dulwich
Hamlet, who haven't lost yet and
won all six games so far. This
will be a stern test for the
lads as we know that they would
have further strengthened on
their squad in pre season and
are looking for promotion.
Looking at out lads I was very
pleased with the response I got
from them last Saturday beating
Folkestone 3-0,we played some
good football and what was more
pleasing was to see Matthew
Daniels at 17 making his debut
and doing very well.
On the player
front I thought it would be nice
to say a big thank you to Frazer
Logan and Ryan Thompson who have
moved on to seek regular
football so we wish them both
well and thank them for their
contributions.
So lets hope
we can continue from last week
and get another win under our
belts. So get behind the boys. |

We managed to
overcome Ramsgate two weeks ago
but we failed to follow this up
and lost on the following
Tuesday to a very hard working
side at Godalming. Consistency
is a major factor in winning
leagues and after going 1-0 up
at Godalming we need to learn to
see games out, even if we are not
playing well, if we are to get
to the level of consistency we
need to be up there at the end
of the year.
In contrast
to Tuesday we turned up at
Folkestone on Saturday and gave
a side, who have only lost once
this year, a real beating with
some great play and just as
importantly a lot of hard work.
A great goal from Gargs to start
us off and with Jerhyl and Josh
playing very well we controlled
the game from start to finish
and ran out deserved 3-0
winners. Hopefully we can take
confidence from this and realise
what a good team we are when we
put our minds to it and play as
we did Saturday. If we keep
winning the manager may even pay
up his outstanding fines, all £2
of it, I suppose times are hard
at the moment but you never know
he might give it to us!.

Good
afternoon and a warm welcome to
our opposition today from
Ramsgate. This will be the third
time we have played each other
in a week. Both games in the FA
Cup were difficult games against
a strong well organised side,
where we just managed to come
out on top.
Looking back
to the game on Tuesday evening
in very difficult conditions, I
was extremely pleased with the
response from the lads, who yet
again gave 100%. I am grateful
that we managed to get a result
within the 90 minutes.
On a less
serious note, they say life is
about timing. My assistant Ross
can't have got it more wrong
when he decided to dye his hair
black on Tuesday, the wettest
day of the year. He was standing
there at the end with the dye
running down his face.
Back to the
serious side of things, can I
say a big thank you to Keith
Collingbourne for the excellent
condition of the pitch. It is
certainly the best I have seen
it! Without the likes of Keith ,
clubs of our size would struggle
to function. We are very
fortunate to have a few like
Keith.
Lets get

that we continue to match our
recent performances

Wednesday
morning and I am sure it was a
bit of a struggle for some of
us, especially Jeryhl, Sammy and
Garg's, to get up and go to work
this morning after our replay at
Ramsgate. I think we probably
deserved to win the tie on the
Saturday but we could not score
and had to settle for another go
last night. Gargs got the only
goal on what was a difficult
night to play, with plenty of
wind and rain to contend with.
We now look forward to another
trip to Kent where we meet
Folkestone in the next round. We
face Ramsgate again this
Saturday and by now I am sure we
both know how each other plays,
its not often you play the same
team three times in the same
week, lets hope we get the same
result as last night.
Apparently we
have a new member of staff, to
help us eat the right things to
help us perform better. He is a
mysterious dietician chap called
Mike, and Gargs, who knows him
well, is going to introduce him
to us this week, he has been
helping Sam out for the last
week or so via email. Lets see
if he helps us as much as he has
helped big Sam!.

Whitehawk VS Ramsgate (Posted

A warm
welcome to everyone for todays
FA Cup game vs Ramsgate, for
which is the 1st of their
journeys to The Enclosed Ground
in 7 days. We hope that Jim Ward
& everyone at Ramsgate FC enjoy
their day at The Enclosed
Ground.
A very good
start to the season came
crashing to an end with a 1-0
defeat at our local rivals,
Bognor Regis Town on Bank
Holiday Monday. A lacklustre
performance not befittng of a
Whitehawk team in a crunch local
derby was not acceptable to us
in the management team & we will
be looking for a positive
reaction today in a world famous
competition which should not
need any getting up for.
I commented
last week on how well we had
performed in training & that we
were settling into playing some
great football but I also
mentioned that with a lot of
hard work we could achieve our
goals this season. Without hard
work, ability counts for
nothing, so I am looking for the
lads to get back to the putting
in the effort & work we saw in
the first 3 games & all of
pre-season, which then allowed
us to show our undoubted ability
with the ball as we had
previously done. To take
positives from the Bognor game,
we have not conceded from open
play still & we still created 3
gilt edge chances that if we
took would have won us the game.
Thank you for
your continued support & we hope
you enjoy todays game.

After three
great results we suffered
defeat, our first since The
Albion in pre-season, to Bognor
on Bank Holiday Monday. We know
we can play much better but the
best way to get over a defeat is
to bounce back with a good
performance and result today. It
would be great to win every game
but there are some good teams in
our league and we need to be at
our best to get results against
them and unfortunately on Monday
not enough of us were up to the
standards we have shown so far
this year. Saying that I thought Winnie was excellent in the
sticks again and Kneezer should
forget about the penalty because
he also played well and has been
playing fantastic since joining
us. If he stopped getting beaten
up in street fights he might be
even better.
Back to
todays game and the F.A. Cup.
It is important we get back to
winning ways again and, although
we might not end up at Wembley,
a cup run is good for everyone
involved at the club.
Financially the prize money is
pretty good and the club can
recoup some of the money they
spend on wages etc, and there is
always the chance, if we get
through a couple of rounds, to
get a decent club from a higher
division which would be a great
test for us and a great
confidence booster if we could
beat them.
Enjoy the
game and let us hope we are in the
draw next week |
