u18’s game ends all square with Lewes…

An excellent game of football was witnesed by just under 0ne hundred people last night as Whitehawk’s first ever Ryman Youth game took place at ’The Enclosed Ground’. Last years Ryman Youth South champions Lewes were the visitors. Both sides started well with Lewes edging posession, but it was ‘The Hawks’ that struck first with an excellent strike from Alain Multini (left) in the sixth minute beating the Lewes keeper with a looping 25 yard effort into the top corner… Both sides created opportunities but went into the break 1-0 to Whitehawk.

Lewes started the second half well, with some excellent movement across the park and were rewarded for their efforts after a communication mix up in the Hawks back four and keeper. With their tails up Lewes continued to press and struck again with a second goal from yet another poor defensive mix up.

In fairess it would have been an injustice to ‘The Hawks’ if they ended up on the wrong side of a 1-2 defeat as they had fully desreved a result and played more than their part in an excellent game.

The game became a fascinating encounter for the last fifteen minutes as ’The Hawks’ pressed Lewes looking for the equaliser and Lewes continuing to hit them on the break with good counter attack play.  Hawks were finally rewarded for their efforts on seventy nine minutes when they were awarded a free kick just outside the Lewes penalty area. Kieran Pamment (below) stepped up and beat the Lewes keeper at his near post.

Both sides continued to press for the winner, but for some fine goalkeeping the final result remained hounours even Whitehawk Youth 2-2 Lewes Youth. Congratulations to both sets of players for an enjoyable oppening game of the season.

Another win for u21’s…

The u21’s kept their good start to the season on track with a 5-2 victory away to Horley last night. The team raced into a three nil start in the first half with the first goal coming after only three minutes!

The second half was a much more even affair with Horley showing great spirit as our boys took their foot of the gas. Even with a below par performance in the second half we created enough chances to have been in double figures with better finishing.

The win sees us re-take top spot with a one hundred percent start to the season. Next game Epsom & Ewell at homethis Saturday 3pm ko.

u21’s at Horley Town tonight….

The u21’s travel to Horley tonight in the league. They are looking to continue their good start to the season against a Horley side that have conceeded twelve goals in their last two games.

Kieran said “We are relatively pleased with the start of the season and in phases the team had played some nice football…when we get thge ball down we are a good side and will be a match for anyone. We will not be reading to much into Horley’s recent results as there have been changes at their club and there will be reasons why they have shipped the amount of goals they have. Horley are a well run club and we are looking forward to tonight’s game.”

Tate & Jones both on target to overcome Hartley Wintney….

Whitehawk 4 v 0 Hartley Wintney

Wes Tate & Josh Jones bagged themselves two goals each today as ‘The Hawks’ finally ended Hartley Wintney’s hopes of a cup upset. The Hawks carried on from where they left off on Saturday creating chance after chance but failing to make any count, either by poor finishing, good goalkeeping and excellent defending from a resiliant Hartley side. Jaie Brotherton even saw his penalty brilliantly saved by the opposing keeper.

There was one big difference from Saturday and that was, that Hartley did not have the same emphisis on attacking, The Hawks were pretty much camped in their opponents half for large periods of the game. The deadlock was eventualy broken mid way through the second half when Wes Tate slotted home from close range and shortly after crafted out his scond, after some neat footwork in the box. Josh Jones, recently returning from fitness was introduced and bagged himself a Brace as Hartley Wintney’s spirit had finally been broken. Fair play to Hartley for an excellent couple of games and we wish them all the best for the season….

The Hawks will now face Maidstone United in the next round at home on the 11th September… More details on todays game to follow.

FA Cup replay tomorrow…

After Saturday’s 2-2- draw at Hartley Wintney both sides will meet again tomorroaw at ‘The Enclosed Ground’ Kick off is 3pm.

Mixed fortunes for the first team & 21’s…

Hartley Wintney 2 v 2 Whitehawk – FA Cup Prel Rd – Sat 28th Aug 2010

A dramatic 98th minute equaliser from Paul Armstrong was needed to save an early exit from this seasons FA Cup today. Hartley Wintney had stormed into a two nil half time lead before Jerahl managed to pull a goal back moments into the second half.

The Hawks created chance afetr chance and just when it seemed to be one of those days Armstrong glanced home an equaliser with virtualy the last kick of the game…

The two sides will meet again in a replay on Bank Holiday Monday at ‘The Enclosed Ground’ I’m sure it will be an excellent game, so get yourself down for a 3pm ko. – FA Match Report

Whitehawk u21’s 6 v 0 Cobham – Suburban League – Sat 28th Aug 2010

Whilst the first team were surviving a cup upset, the u21’s continued their excellent start to life in the Suburban League with a comprehensive six nil win over Cobham from Surrey…
