Last night there were over seventy players at the club reporting back for pre season training……. As well as familiar faces from last seaon there was an excellent turnout of new players looking to join the club.
The senior players completed a road run to the West Pier, whilst the under 21’s and under 18 teams all participated in stretching and conditional games.
All of the coaching staff were very impressed with the standard of the first session and it was great to see players from all over the county, the club house was buzzing!
Lee Brace commented ”the under 21 trialists all looked of a good standard and the mix of 1st & 2nd year youth looks to be a very exciting group for the upcoming season. With the club running three under eighteen sides next season there will be opportunities for all the players to represent the club at different levels”.
Training will be every Tuesday & Thursday evenings right through until to September. Meet time at the club 6.30 .

The draw for the next round of the FA Vase took place this morning and if we were to progress past Larkhall Athletic we would face another away trip to Bristol Manor Farm who beat Peacehaven on Saturday. With our game on Saturday being postponed due to a water logged pitch, the game has been re-scheduled for this coming Saturday (12th December).
The next round tie will be played on January 16th 2010. We are now the only representatives from Sussex in the FA Vase as Peacehaven, Arundel, Eastbourne United and Shoreham all lost at the weekend. Congratulations to all of them for reaching that stage in a tough competition, it just shows that Sussex is a strong football force having five clubs in the third round stages.
In the league there were wins for Chichester & Selsey whilst Wick held out for a draw away at East Grinstead. The win for Chichester saw them go above us by a single point and having played two games more. The reserves played on Friday evening and were on the wrong end of a 4-1 result at Shoreham.

We regained top spot last night with a hard fought victory over title rivals Chicester City. The game was a scrappy affair with both sides being awarded two penalties each. City converted both of theirs whilst McBride saw his penaltty come back off the post. Marc Whiteman stepped up to convert the second kick for the Hawks. Josh Jones bagged himself another brace as he continues with his impressive form.
This weekend we welcome Farehamm Town in the second round of the FA Vase. Fareham are having a good season so far currently sitting in fith posoition in the Wessex Premier Division.
Recent results have seen them go on an unbeaten run of eight games including six wins.
The game on Saturday should be a an excellent contest between two well matched sides.

Cup fever this week at the club as George & Darren prepare the squad for a tricky away visit to East Grinstead. The ‘Wasps’ have been in impressive cup form this season dismissing two Combined County sides in the Vase and narrowly beaten by Horsham YMCA from the Ryman League 1-0. The ultimate prize in this competition is a chance to play at Wembley in the final…. I am sure the players don’t need any more motivation than that!
